I just noticed an easter egg in VLC. It looks like it checks the date, and if it is close to christmas, it changes its icon.

I went to watch a tv show I had on DVR and the icon was normal then I come back from making popcorn and BAM new icon! I thought I had a virus or something really lame.
Though I saw it down on the icon in the taskbar, and as the icon’s so small, wondered “Hmm, what program is THAT?”, and found out upon clicking. ^_^
I’d like to know how this was accomplished (as opening the .exe with an editor to look for icons only shows the standard cone), and, like mattjones, what other holidays it decides to get festive for!
Guess I’m diving into the source code (hope it’s documented)!

Kinda obvious for an ‘easter egg’

Awesome. So it was able to change the icon without a restart.
Makes me wonder what other holidays are supported.
Haha, just happened to me too.
